Twenty-five Spanish companies to take part in the sector’s most glamorous international event.
From March 18 to 25, the Swiss city of Basel will be hosting the 38th Baselworld Watch and Jewellery Show, the sector’s major international event attended by top buyers and leading brands, which will be presenting their latest collections.
More than 100,000 trade visitors from over 100 countries are expected to be at the show, as well as some 3,000 journalists from the trade press.
Twenty-five renowned Spanish watchmakers and jewellers will be taking part, including Carrera y Carrera, Dámaso Martínez and Bagués Masriera, which will be based in the exclusive Hall of Visions/First Avenue.
The Spanish brands taking part in the prestigious watch pavilions include Festina-Lotus, the Munreco Group – with brands Viceroy and Sandoz – and the Valentín Group with Time Force.
In 2009, Spain exported jewellery and watch products worth €366.3 mill. By sector, watches accounted for €187.1 mill., whilst jewellery, gold and silver goods made up €179.1 mill. of the total. Switzerland is second on the Spanish export league table, worth €47.7 mill. France remains Spain’s leading market, with sales worth over €65 mill.
