Viceroy in new deal with Alonso

03/08/2010

The watch and accessory maker signs up the Formula 1 racing driver to promote its products for three more years.

Viceroy has just announced that, for the third consecutive year, Fernando Alonso will be its international ambassador. The Spanish Formula 1 driver appeared at a press conference with Juan Palacios chairman of the Munreco group which owns the watch brand, to unveil the latest collection of watches that will bear his name.

With his perseverance and determination to excel, Fernando Alonso embodies the values of a brand known for its precision technology and cutting-edge design. Like Viceroy, Fernando has to keep a close track of time in his races.

Despite changing racing team this year to join Ferrari, one of the top names in Formula 1 motor-racing, Fernando Alonso chose to maintain his commitment to Viceroy, and appeared before the media at what was his last appearance before the new season gets underway.

Viceroy, meanwhile, has embarked on an intensive growth strategy, broadening its sales network. In January, it opened its first boutique in Alicante, at 8, Calle Federico Soto.

The new shop is decorated with the brand’s corporate black and red, with attention focused on brand ambassadors Fernando Alonso and singer Raquel del Rosario.

The brand has also opened three shop-in-shops in Madrid in Corte Inglés department stores in Sanchinarro, Pozuelo and Preciados. With the latest opening in Alicante, the company will have four shops in Spain (in La Vaguada, Serrano and Goya) and five shop-in-shops in department stores.

Created in 1951, Viceroy is owned by watchmaker Munreco, which also sells Sandoz and Maurice Lacroix.
