Cibeles prepares its most ambitious edition yet

02/05/2010

February 18 sees the start of Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week, at a 51st edition featuring 51 designers and six days of shows.

The 51st Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week is set to open on Thursday 18 February where top names in Spanish fashion will unveil their autumn-winter 2010/11 collections at 43 shows.

The six-day event will include the Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week debut of Teresa Helbig, renowned for her demi-couture designs, who will bring a new note of sophistication to the catwalk.

Ego will be presenting six new designers, including Beba´s Closet, Cati Serra, Georgina Ordinas, Isabel Mastache and Maya Hansen. The alternative platform will occupy a whole day on the Thursday.

Jesús del Pozo will kick off the show on February 19, in a return to Ifema after taking part in other catwalks, like international designer Davidelfin, who will have unveiled his collection in New York a few days earlier.

Ion Fiz and María Escoté, who recently took part in Off at Cibeles, will be on the official catwalk on February 23. María Lafuente, Carmen March and newcomer Alvarno – a premium initiative from designers Arnaud Maillard and Álvaro Castejón – will complete the Off programme with shows in the city centre.

To coincide with its winter edition, Cibeles will have a special place for furs, with designs by Jesús Lorenzo and Miguel Marinero. The last day will include a catwalk for charity sponsored by Lancia.

Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week will also be paying special attention to bloggers at BloggerSpace, an area devoted to the authors of these digital diaries, which will include 20 of the most popular fashion blogs.
