Congratulations, Bundó

Spanish bridalwear company celebrates its 40th anniversary.

This year marks 40 years since Cristina Arana created her own wedding dress and, with it, the company that carries the name of her husband, Raimon Bundó. Since then, the Catalan designer has dressed the most sophisticated and modern brides, without reference to fashion or conventionality. In fact, her designs often inspire art or literature as they do not follow any trends.

Taking advantage of the last Barcelona Bridal Week, Bundó showcased her latest collection, entitled Tocar el cielo [Touch the sky] inspired by Romeo and Juliet, and exhibited a selection of 15 outfits representative of her four decades of dressmaking.

The outfits in this show ranged from the one in which Arana got married – with a spectacular organza coat – to models created by the great geniuses Manuel Pertegaz and Pedro Rodríguez. Both collaborated for this atelier becoming established as standard bearers in the bridalwear sector, producing ready-to-wear outfits for brides.

Raimon Bundó produces some 10,000 outfits a year, which are sold in 160 shops around the world. In Madrid, it has just opened its own store at 25 Don Ramón de la Cruz. In addition, Bundó is the driving force and current chairman of the Novia España bridal show.
