Pretty Ballerinas enters Canada

The footwear company opens its first store outside Europe.

Spanish footwear company Pretty Ballerinas goes beyond Europe for the first time as it embarks on its strategy to expand on the American continent. The firm has chosen the Canadian city of Montreal for this, specifically the exclusive shopping area of Westmount, where it will open a standalone store.

The inauguration of this boutique, to take place next August, is largely a result of the excitement generated in Canada by Pretty Ballerinas’ designs. These comfortable and original shoes have already crossed borders to become the chosen accessories of trendsetting celebrities such as Kate Moss, Lindsay Lohan and Kylie Minogue.

Despite the low temperatures, ballet pumps are seen as star products in Canada and are worn in both summer and winter. During the colder months women go to work in après ski boots and then change into comfortable designer ballet pumps.

In order to maintain their exclusivity, as well as creating handcrafted items, Pretty Ballerinas will only market a limited number of each model.

Pretty Ballerinas was set up in 2005 as a division of the already consolidated Mascaró brand that was founded in the first decade of the 20th century. It currently exports 60% of its production, mainly to China, Great Britain, Japan, the United States, France and Germany.

The Menorca-based company has 46 shops worldwide, located in the most important retail districts of each country.
