The Madrid catwalk will have a new format at its next edition, which runs from September 15 to 19.
September 15 will mark a brand new phase for Madrid’s Cibeles Catwalk when its 48th edition kicks off at the IFEMA convention centre. The new format, known as Cibeles Madrid Fashion Week, will have a double runway with two different interpretations of design light technology and seating arrangements: Cibeles and Neptuno.
The Cibeles Room will be a more neutral but glamorous setting with a runway 30 cm high and 2.40 m wide. The Neptune Room will be more dimly lit, with a cutting-edge six-metre-wide runway at ground level which can be walked in a “U” shape. Both rooms can hold up to 600 people.
Hall 14.1 of the Feria de Madrid convention centre will feature the spring-summer 09 shows by both young and established designers, whilst a full day will be given over to newcomer platform The Ego, to be held as part of the newly designed show on Friday September 19. Its showroom, where young designers sell their collections to the public, will be transferred to Cibelespacio, beside the two catwalks. This new area will also provide a venue for the other social, cultural and commercial activities held in the course of the week.
The event will have a record number of participants, with 52 designers who will be presenting collections at 40 different shows. Devota y Lomba will launch a packed four-day schedule with creations by 36 designers in 32 shows, four of them double. Thursday will include major novelties with collections by Nicolás Baudelet’s for El Caballo, menswear designer duo Jan iu Mes, Carlos Díez – now with his own show – and Krizia Robustella, previously part of Ego.
