We try on the new sneakers from the Mascaró brand and explore their recently opened concept store in Barcelona.
We had already mentioned in our Momad Metrópolis
report in September that Pretty Ballerinas
was adopting the sportswear trend with its first sneaker collection. “Our customers were telling us that they couldn’t find women’s sports shoes. They weren’t looking to work out with them; they just wanted to wear sneakers that had the essence of Pretty Ballerinas,” Úrsula Mascaró, the company’s Creative Director, explained.
The PrettySneakers Collection is finally hitting points of sale. Their extra-tall sole was devised to slim the figure of the wearer. It’s a patented, extra-light design with a split in the middle. This specific cut becomes an identifying mark, as it adds flexibility to the wearer’s step while providing a distinctive outline.
In addition to the launch of their unique sneaker line, Pretty Ballerinas recently celebrated the international grand opening of their new concept store at 106 Paseo de Gracia in Barcelona. The store uses high-quality materials and furnishings, such as champagne-colored stainless steel, pink alabaster and tinted mirrors. Each product is showcased on metal trays and suspended against a background of pink rolling waves. The store also has traditional Pretty Ballerinas fixtures, like the leopard-print pouf, the Louis XVI-style gilded mirror and the pink shelves that have characterized the company’s retail spaces the world over since it opened its first location on London’s Brook Street in 2007. “It’s an evolved image that’s more in keeping with the spirit of our luxury ballerina”, Úrsula Mascaró asserted.
